Investiture was in the end, a disappointment. Zero post for me. Remained as member. But alas, I must agree that ther are people in the band who has greater capabilities then me and are more committed.
However, I must still say that some of the postings are weird. For example, Yuh Yiing got the secretary post when she didn't even run for it and this is rather unfair for those people who ran for secretary posts. Even though Yuh Yiing is very capable, but if she didn't run for the secretary post, it should be given to some other people who wants the post. Also, the battle for the SL position is quite weird too. Certain sections like clarinets, they rather given a person double posts then to give the SL position to someone else. This is unlike last year and also last time in RI where they usually spread out the positions unless the rest of the section are too lousy. But saying abtzy is too lousy is indeed a wrong statement when he is so committed, yet Yuh Yiing got double posts and abtzy got none.
Another thing I realised is that it is indeed hard to get a fun outing done with girls. This is not a statement of gender stereotyping or discrimination. It is just saying that guys and girls simply have different hobbies. For example, I would consider going lanning, pooling or playing basketball as a good form of entertainment while the girls would rather sit down and talk, cam whore or shop to entertain themselves. While I find that the latter 3 activities are a form of wasting time, the girls find that the activities that we like tends to waste money or have too much body contact. So what's the conclusion, our outings usually ends up sitting down and talk or play cards (no bridge, but some rather mindless games which require no thinking).
I really think that not all our outings require both the guys and the girls. The guys can go for some outings alone and not together with the girls. Because one should not sacrifice his own interest for the sake of other people. Just like the chinese saying "人不为己，天诛地灭". So if even Heaven and Earth will slaughter you if you don't help yourself, how can you just forsake your interest like that. Maybe next time if this kind of things happen, I will just call up some hardcore lanner and going lanning.
