Class Adventure Camp was relatively boring. But luckily, we brought 6 decks of cards and a frisbee which partially prevented us from dying of boredom.
CAC began with the journey to Pulau Ubin, during which we played taitee. Upon reaching Pulau Ubin, we hurriedly finished our lunch and played frisbee. I found that frisbee really rox especially when you are playing monkey with it. It trains your reaction skills and it is very amusing to see people diving at frisbees.
The real adventure started when we were divided into 2 groups and went on a trek. We instantly realised that we were unforunately enough to trek right after a rain. The road has become more of a stream or a dried river bed where there is mud all over the place. Whenever you take a step, we you will feel the sickening sensation that your shoes have just sank into the mud. However, mud wasn't our biggest worry (especially after you've been through sec 1 orientation), it was the ubiquitous mosquitoes which tormented us throughout the 1 1/2 days. No matter where you are, there will always be around 10 mosquitoes surrounding you. During this period, there is a widespread of dengue fever and no one will know if the mosquito which bite you is a Ades or not. Through some means or another, we completed the trek. It was a rather short one which only took 4 hours, but the girls were exhausted at the end of it.
We pitched our tents after that and it was Gabriel, Captain Sai and Muscle Justin who did most of the job. Justin simply lifted Sai Meng off the ground so that Sai Meng could tie the rope onto the tree. After that, Justin lifted Gabriel to tie the knot on the other tree. Tent building took us 1 hr.
After dinner, it was night walk. This was the event that caused a lot of panic. This was because we had to do SOLO night walk. Somehow, Justin managed to scared the girls by saying some stuff which I didn't hear because I was the 2nd guy to go into the deep dark forest. Night walk was rather interesting, although I wish that the ground was not so wet and that there was no light sticks. Light sticks affects my night vision a lot. I could only the the bright light from the light stick and nothing around it. Being the 2nd guy, the light sticks were shining too brightly for my own good. I depended quite a bit on my 6th sense and just walked straight to the light sticks. It was rather amazing that I didn't fall of the sides when on the next day, we realised that the road was quite narrow and you will probably die if you fall off the sides as it is all river.
We played more cards in the night and I played until 2 am. When I walked back to the camp site, I realised that several of them were having a party and they were boiling water. They said it was too hot and noisy to sleep as the other class was chit-chatting. I didn't care as I was quite sleepy. After a while, I realised that they were very wrong, I was damn cold and I was freezing to death. However, I refused to use my sleeping bag as it meant that I will lose my pillow. That is how I ended up having runny nose now.
2nd day of camp is quite short. We went to this played where it is completely infested with mosquitoes. You can basically just stretch out your hand, clap and voila, you've killed a mosquito. I tried it and killed an Ades (at least that is what I think, as it has white spots on its legs). We had to blindfold ourselves and walk from 1 specified tree to another specified tree, then to the 3rd specified tree. Under the command of Captain Sai, we completed the task without any effort.
And that was the end of CAC. We returned to RJC, washed the equipments, and I played 30 mins of basketball, although I was going to fall asleep soon. I reached home and slept for 15 hours. Not bad.
P.S I would like to thank Wilson and Wendy for being great companions during the CAC
P.P.S For those who don't know, Wilson is a character from "Castaway", and "Wendy" is another coconut that we found during CAC
