There is only one word to describe Open House --- Hectic.
Befriending and performing really does not go along with each other. There is a performance almost every hour and due to that, I had to run around almost never-endingly from the main gate where I was being assigned to the MEP room where the band is supposed to meet before the performance.
Anyway, I think our performance was laudable. Even Zackary who was renowned for his rather cynical comments said that it was quite good. Although the amphitheatre was not exactly the most suitable place for band performance due to it being large and empty, thus causing the band to sound echo-ey. However, by playing the notes short and sharp, we managed to overcome this little setback and our "ABBA gold" sounded rather nice.
Our brass quintet was a bit screwed up, especially for Rondeau. Ziluo made the fatal mistake of playing his crotchets into quavers and got lost. In the end, he just resorted to playing at ad libitum and only joined back at the last bar. Also, I somehow could not raise until the 1 octave higher B-flat and mispitched into a F. But other than that, the whole thing was ok.
Befriending, on the other hand, was extremely boring for me. There were hordes of befrienders stationing at the main gate waiting to snatch customers when they come in, but the problem is there weren't any until 10+ am. Hence for the first 1hr plus, most of us were just simply sleeping and doing some nonsensical stuff. Indeed, I found that everything about the Open House was not bad, just that there were not enough visitors, at least in the morning. Most of us who were school tour befrienders at most did only 1 school tour and for me, I did none. So basically, the only duty I did not befrienders was too carry some goodie bags.
I pity the afternoon shift people. When I left the school (around 3) , there were uncountable number to students and these poor afternoon shift people had to walking around the school and talk incessantly for 4hrs. Hope that they never develop sore throats. But for us who are the morning shift people, we just had a slack duty except getting lectured by the Teacher-in-Charge(Although I didn't hear what he said, cause I went off to prepare for performance. Haha!)
