There really seems to be a lot of stuff happening lately. I am of course not talking about those small stuff such as a school exam, but rather national or even international scale events. This compels me to rant about some of it in this personal yet public place.
Of course, I must first congratulate Singapore for winning the bid to host the Youth Olympics Game 2010. But, I guess it is quite evident that Singapore will win the bid. It was clear that one of the aims of the YOG is to allow countries that are not able to host the real Olympics to have a chance to hold one of a smaller scale. The other competitor, Moscow, held Olympics before and there is no reason for it to host this YOG when countries like Singapore is contesting for it. I thought that Malaysia should have entered the last round instead of Moscow. Maybe Malaysia didn't present a good enough report for its bid.
Another event, of a smaller scale and also one that is rather sad is the death of Lydia Sum. Her departure is really another sign of the departure of the older generation of actors and singers. Many others around her generation have either also died or left the entertainment circle. But I guess it is mostly those aunties in their 40s who watch actors like Lydia Sum when they grow up, teenagers like us only watch those young actors like Edison Chen.
And of course, this brings us to the next topic which is Edison Chen. Edison Chen is announced that he will leave the entertainment zone for good, and this news had obviously broken many of his supporters' hearts. I personally know that there are avid Edison supporters in my class and they would be devastated to hear such news. I guess Edison Chen is really unlucky enough to have some busy-body computer repairman to extract his all his information from his computer and find those porn pictures, but I think he is really quite stupid to put those pictures of himself and those celebrities in the computer when he know the prowess of those notorious paparazzi of Hong Kong. This shows us 1 simple rule: If you want to have fun, don't take pictures; If you want to take pictures, don't upload onto the computer; If you want to upload it onto the computer, don't send it for repair.
I recall a similar incident of the girl from NYP who also use handphone to take videos of her boyfriend and she having sex and the videos were found by her friend who uploaded it onto the internet if I am not wrong. It caused quite a bit of commotion. Hence, the best thing to do is just don't take pictures/videos.
Ok, I saved the biggest event for the last. This last event might not affect us, but it definitely might cause some ricochets in other parts of the world. That is, of course, the independence of Kosovo. Some might never even have heard of such country, but this event might have some serious repercussions in countries like Sri Lanka, Russia, China etc. Basically, places such as Taiwan can use this event as a excuse that they should be granted independence too. Also, only half of the world acknowledged the independence of Kosovo, which of course included the ubiquitous USA and its European allies. Countries that have problems with its ethnic/religious groups that have always wanted independence obviously denied the presence of such a country named Kosovo. Also, the Balkan region has always been the trigger of a war, such as the Kosovo War in 1999 (can't remember the year). Hope that this don't turn into another huge conflict.
Ok, let's end of with a more optimistic note. Obama has been pwning Hillary for a long time. 10 victories in a row? Lol. Obama rox. Sorry for those Hillary supporters
