Time to wipe off the dust on my blog after nearly 2 months of indolence. Not to say that I am really slacking off since there is so much happenings.
Of course, 2 big events looming around the corner are the H3 final exam and A Tempo. Now, the ticket sales for A Tempo is really quite dismal. We still have more than a thousand unsold tickets. I feel this sense of guilt because I only bothered to sell the 5 tickets assigned to be and didn't ask more people to buy tickets, unlike some hardcore pimp Ziluo who sold uncountable no. of tickets to his bevy of girlfriends. Maybe I will try to sell more tickets soon.
On the other hand, I feel that this year's A Tempo songs are really quite interesting, although I would prefer to play more contemporary songs, like Pirates of the Carribean. But nevertheless, the songs are really nice, especially Saga Maligna. At first, I thought it would just another one of those long, boring-sounding pieces but I 've got it all wrong. Every part of Saga Maligna sounds nice (except maybe the ending which sound a bit abrupt, but since this is the second suite of the play Zaad Van Satan, I can't really complain). The few jazz and samba pieces also provided a different facade of band music, apart from the normal marches. I guess this year's A Tempo should be rather entertaining, as long as we don't screw up.
Talking about concerts, I just went for the RJCO one last week and no offence, but I find their pieces a bit boring a too long. This is especially true for their showcase piece, Odyssey. There was like 30 bars of the same music which nearly drove me to sleep (and many others to sleep already). But I guess it is the way Chinese music sounds, they like to have many repeats. Their Pirates of the Carribean does not sound as majestic as the band version, I guess due to having no brass instruments, and hence lacked impact. However, the soloists are super imba, like Shida who captivated us with his flute. I have to admit that he sounds better than Chester with his imba tonguing skills and dexterity of his fingers. But the highlight of the night is still when Rongbing gave his 20 red rose to *ahem*. The crowd surrounding him went crazy.
Anyway, life sucks now. Practices for A Tempo is really quite overwhelming now and although H3 lessons are over, there is always the final exam which I can already forsee that I am going to flunk it. I still don't understand how a bipolar junction transistor and a field-effect transistor works. Perhaps someone can enlighten me on this blog. Anyway, the books I borrowed from library are extremely overdue already and I think you all can find my name on the list of outstanding library fines soon. The books are not very useful anyway. They are either phrased in some chim language or are so outdated that they are older than me (the intro to semiconductors that I am reading now is published in 1985).
Then there is always the GP common test this wednesday. I think I am supposed to be studying now but from past experience, I have decided that mugging for GP will probably only cause my grade to be worse. I guess I will just depend on luck that the essay topics are do-able and that the compre is some free frag.
I am really starting to regret uninstalling my Warcraft III and all those other games. Now, during holidays, I have nothing to play and also no motivation to mug. So I spend majority of the time roaming around the house and reading random story books (like those you read in primary schools). They provide minimal entertainment. I don't know how I am supposed to survive the whole June holidays like this.
That's all folks. Stay tuned for the next update, which will be god-knows-when.
