Watched Man U v Chelsea last Sunday and I must comment on how lousy Man U is this season.
If the Liverpool match wasn't enough to demonstrate Man U lack of ball control, this match against Chelsea is an epitome of how noob Man U midfielders are.
Basically, man u decided to learn from teams such as stoke city and play hardcore defence after they scored a rather tyco goal by park ji sung (of all people, this idiot who dunno how to shoot). There were like 10 man u players at the man u half all the time and berbatov must had a really depressing time at the front, with only john terry to accompany him. This proves the statement that man u should really change its name to C.Ronaldo instead. Of course, the premise is that man city won't buy c.ron for 135 million pounds during the winter transfer period.
Finally at the 2nd half, man u's saviour appeared. C.Ronaldo, a.k.a Guo Jingjing the 2nd, was subbed on and he certainly did not disappoint his fans. In less than 5 mins, he did his most trademark move. He tumbled onto the ground before lampard even touches him-- a blatant dive worthy of a Olympic Gold Medal. But of course, the referee wasn't wearing his specs and gave man u a free kick. This portrays exactly how a likely-to-be FIFA player of the year should behave.
Talking about the referee Mike Riley (all long-time stalwarts of EPL should know him by now as the pro-man u dude), he was damn lousy during the match. He started the 2nd half when Chelsea didn't even have 11 players on the field, forcing Chelsea to kick the ball out of play just after they started. And being european champions and english champions, man u obviously had the sportsmanship to attack instead to returning the ball to Chelsea. Also, the referee didn't award an obvious penalty to Chelsea when Malouda was brought down by Van Der Sar. Interestingly enough, Ferguson still had the cheek to say that the referee was biased towards Chelsea. Fair enough, man u was awarded 7 yellow cards while chelsea was awarded only 1, but watching the match, you realise that man u deserves much more cards then they got. For example, after scholes got his first yellow card, he blatantly handballed at least one time and the referee didn't give him a 2nd yellow.
Anyway, if man u wants to retain its titles, it better buck up now and get some midfielders. Its current ones really sucks, with no one being able to pass properly and initiate an attack. This accounts for why man u were getting owned pretty badly in the recent 2 matches. It will be interesting to see how they will fare against a hardcore ball control team, like arsenal or barcelona, with current form.
Wow, I actually wrote such a long sports commentary! Mmm, have some potential to be a ESPN journalist.
P.S I am not a Chelsea fan, I am an Arsenal fan
